Server-side tracking is no longer optional

28 June 20267 min readClickBeyond Team

Meta CAPI and GA4 event design decide whether your reporting reflects reality.

Browser-only tracking loses a meaningful share of conversions to blockers, privacy defaults and in-app browsers. The platforms then optimise against an incomplete picture, and the reports you make decisions from quietly drift away from reality.

What a working setup looks like

  • One event schema shared by the site, the CRM and the ad platforms.
  • Server-side events with deduplication keys so nothing is double counted.
  • Conversion values passed through, not just conversion counts.
  • A monthly reconciliation between CRM revenue and platform reported revenue.

The goal is not perfect attribution. The goal is a single source of truth that everyone in the business trusts enough to act on.
